My wife is a Wholistic Wellness Practitioner and this is one of her favorite books. I hesitated when I saw the price, but got it for her anyway. (After all, a happy wife is a happy life.) and I am very glad I did. She uses it constantly. It is thorough, complete, easy to understand and use, and has both the European and Oriental systems (points and also meridians). It came with a great chart. Highly recommended for anyone who is more than just a dabbler.

This is a fabulous book. I don't know of any other source for auriculotherapy acupuncture that is so accurate and so detailed. Not only does it provide spot-on locations for ear points, but it teaches the learner how to properly locate points in the ear. It is also FILLED with wonderful point prescriptions that go far and beyond any other source I have ever seen. For my patients who are afraid of body acupuncture, I will sometimes use this book instead.Since ear acupuncture is so directly related to cerebral activity, if a patient presents a symptoms that I know the neurological connection to, I will often refer to this book to locate the area of the brain that correlates. It's often a pleasant surprise how effectively this works. If I ever lost this book, I'd replace it immediately.

This is a fantastic textbook, with fascinating introductory sections, many useful graphics explaining different acupressure microsystems (not just of the ear), and lots and lots of ear charts related to many different ailments for quick lookup. I'm very glad I own this, know I will be referring to it often.

This is an excellent book, especially for those just getting started with SDN, but also for filling in the blanks, even for people who already have some experience with SDN. The book is well written and provides plenty of examples and even analogies (like centralized traffic light control) that help the reader understand both how and why SDN works. I bought the book mainly for the guide to starting a Mininet based OpenFlow / OpenDaylight controller virtual lab. There are a lot of moving parts needed to get this going, and Vivek provides instructions and screen shots that guide the reader through the process. I am very glad that I purchased this book, and I have already recommended it to many of my coworkers and customers. It is a "must read" for anyone who is serious about really understanding SDN. At the very least, try the Kindle sample, and I am sure that after reading that, most people will order the book like I did.

This is a fairly short book that summarizes the essentials of SDN and helps you get started with a development environment using mininet and Open Daylight. The book is a good complement to your own initial investigation of SDNs, and does not require more than a basic understanding of networking in order to comprehend the writing. As an independently published book, there are numerous grammar and syntax errors, but they are minor flaws.If you already know about SDNs and can set up mininet or create flows with Open Daylight, then this book is not for you.

As the book states, this is good for the C suite and those needing a place to start learning about SDN. Is there more robust material out there? Yes, definitely. Is there a better place to find it that will cost you less than the price of this book? That is a time versus money question that only you can answer. What I will say is that while there is good intention behind exercises put forth in the lab, the downloading, installing, configuring, etc takes so long as to make it seem less worthwhile. While this is not the author's fault per se, making reference to Opendaylight, the SDN controller project currently in development with nightly builds that may or may not be available depending on when you attempt to download, does take away from some of the technical polish that would really knock this out of the park. Since Amazon won't let me give 3.5 stars I rounded up based on this book being the best option at the $8 price point.

It is a easy reading book to understand what is SDN. With the practical lab, it give a good understanding on both theoretical and pracatical knowledge.However, after reading this book, SDN and Openflow may not be able totally open the market to a single standard, as giant network equipment vendor can still create properitary functions in SDN controller and even hardware support in those "standard dump switches".Besides, security would be a biggest concern. Once hacker can control the controller, he is taking over the whole network. The Internet is invented as distributed control to prevent enemy from taking over the whole network at once. Will this feature appreciate customers who have great concern on security?

I am taking the Coursera SDN class and I have basic Python knowledge. This book helped clarify some confusion I had with basic SDN concepts, cleared up some mininet confusion, and made the opendaylight installation go very smooth. I would not say it is a companion book for the SDN class, as the instructor in that class goes a lot deeper and Intermediate Python knowledge is needed. This book can be read and benefited from with zero SDN/Python knowledge.

First few chapters of this book was awesome and very much engaging overall. But writer expanded the topic too much "SDN in WAN", in Data Center, Is it Hype or Reality... To me the use cases all together could be compiled in a single chapter and writer could give a little bit more focus on details. However, this book will be very helpful for a complete beginner who just landed in the SDN boat and started this book as a first one.

Very good book for SDN introduction. I didn't know anything about SDN, and reading this book helped me understand the basics without much of researching the web (and let me do the same after getting an idea about the concepts). There are some grammatical mistakes, which if taken care would make the reading more helpful (particularly in the later chapters).

It provides a good high level summary for SDN. The analogy of air traffic control helps associates SDN concepts to daily life experience that can be easily related. References and statistics are a bit dated, which is an area a new version may want to address.
