The author began his studies of the martial arts in 1967, became a writer for the magazines in 1981, and had his own column in Inside Karate (Case Histories). He is the discoverer of Matrixing, which is the only legitimate science of martial arts in the world.

In 1969 he began studying at the Kang Duk Won (House for Espousing Virtue) Korean Karate school, which boasted a large student population of Hell's Angels, Gypsy Jokers, and other outlaw bikers. In addition, the school was eventually expelled from the Korean Martial Arts Associations, and was considered an 'outlaw' school.

The school actually consisted of two systems, the traditional Kang Duk Won, and an unusually extreme and effective method devised by the head instructor of the school, Bob Babich, which was called Kwon Bup (Fist Method).

Some years later, realizing that the system had accumulated too many techniques and was taking too long to learn, the author combined the two systems into one, creating 'Outlaw Karate.' He chose the name 'Outlaw because of the biker influence, and because it had been 'outlawed' by the traditional associations of the time.

The system basically combined the most brutal and efficient techniques of the two systems it came from, and shortened the training time down a single year.

The system worked, but perhaps a little two well. People trained in it were subject to a varied degree of injuries, including broken hands, 'cracked' sternums, broken ribs, and near death.

The book will contain some very interesting information about such things as what one actually needs to make it to Black Belt, including the original written tests. This was the first time this type of martial arts information had ever been published in context with an actual system.

This system is the link between classical systems, and the later systems Martial Arts which utilized Matrixing Technology. Any martial artist who wishes to learn a devastating system quickly, and is interested in the background systems leading up to Matrixed Martial Arts, should consider Outlaw Karate as extremely valuable.
